Castor Angle

Castor Angle продольный угол.

Castor Angle of an axis of turn is an inclination of the top point of an axis of turn forward or back from a vertical if to look on the automobile sideways.

For what the castor angle of an axis of turn is necessary? The castor provides steady movement of the automobile on a straight line and in turns.

The angle of a castor of an axis of turn provides an opportunity with the help of steering management to keep a required rate of the automobile.

Positive castor angle of an axis of turn Положительный продольный угол

The inclination of an axis is positive back (see fig. 203).

Fig. 203 Positive castor angle of an axis of turn.

Negative castor angle of an axis of turn Отрицательный продольный угол

The inclination of an axis forward is negative (see fig. 204).

Fig. 204 Negative castor angle of an axis of turn.

Zero castor angle of an axis of turn Нулевой продольный угол (0)

If the inclination of an axis is absent, the castor angle of an axis of turn is equal to zero (see fig. 205).

Size of a angle

Size of a castor angle, it is measured in angular sizes degrees (degree) (see fig. 106).

 Wrong castor angle.

While in service the automobile there is a deterioration and deformation of units and details of steering management, a suspension bracket and a body of the automobile, it results in change of angles of installation of wheels. For indemnification of deterioration and deformation of units and details of a suspension bracket and a body of the automobile, can be demanded replacement and additional adjustment of angle of wheels.

Wrong installation of a castor angle, can affect stability, stability, controllability and roving of the automobile on road (instability, instability of the automobile in a track). If there is a difference of angles of the right and left side it can lead to withdrawal of the automobile aside smaller size of a castor angle (see fig. 209).
